About Eravikulam National Park

Eravikulam is Kerala’s first national park and home to the largest surviving population of the endangered Nilgiri Tahr, a mountain goat found nowhere else on earth. The park’s rolling grasslands and shola forests sit in the shadow of Anamudi, the highest peak south of the Himalayas, and visitors can walk a short eco-trail where tahr often graze just metres from the path. Once every twelve years, the slopes turn violet-blue when the rare Neelakurinji flower blooms — a sight worth planning a trip around if the timing lines up. For most visitors though, it’s simply the easiest place in Munnar to get close to genuine Western Ghats wildlife in a single morning.
